For a second year, Simon and our elite team of Viking sailors at The Viking will be partaking in the Wirral Headway Dragon Boat Race on the 20th May to raise money for The Wirral Headway Charity.
The Wirral Headway charity work to improve life after brain surgery by providing outstanding support, services and information to people with an acquired brain injury, their relatives and carers.
Simon will be acting captain again this year and will lead our fundraising endeavours down the West Kirby Marine Lake to our inevitable victory.
We’ve certainly got an advantage over our competition, it’s in our blood! It was The Vikings who manned the first ever Dragon Boats, also known as fast ships… it’s all in the name! If our ancestry doesn’t help us, then maybe the huge Viking ship in the garden for team rehearsals in between Sunday lunches may contribute something to our chances!
We’re aiming to raise £1,000 and will be holding a raffle in the restaurant with prizes including huge Gin hampers courtesy of Wirral Gin and Tappers, and 2 places on our upcoming Cheese & Wine night hosted by Simon. (Tickets at just £2).
Sun’s out, suds out! We’re also here to clean up your chosen vessel on Saturday 13th May with a Viking car wash to help raise even more money towards our target. Checkpoint West Kirby have kindly donated all the equipment.
Any contributions will make a fantastic difference and are hugely appreciated. See you soon!
